Hi there!
My name is Alex Knight. I’ve been creating professional video and photography content for over 6 years and have no plans of stopping. After researching your station I was thoroughly impressed with the videos I saw, they had a similar news-y structure and feeling, but with more life and energy than you usually see coming out of that industry. I was taken back by the quality of Bartell’s Backroads, something about the story structure, the editing choices, and the engaging host really drew me in and made me take notice. I’m a huge believer in the importance of story, and from what I’ve seen, you are too. I hope you find who you’re looking for no matter the decision, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to check out my work,
Thank you.
EXPERIENCE
Videographer / Photographer , Field Group
Yakima, WA — 2016-2019
I was the head of the video department for a local marketing and advertising company, often working alone or with limited crew. During this time my skills were put to the test, creating lots of social media content, commercials, documentary content, and even product photography and videos. While I was there I was able to hone in my craft during off hours by practicing lighting for hours in the studio, testing the cameras to get the best possible image, and applying that knowledge on shoot days. We had a large medical client that needed interviews filmed for all of their providers across multiple hospitals, we ended up conducting 60+ interviews over the course of three months. This was one of the best experiences I had because I was able to really perfect my interview lighting and run-and-gun style and apply it to future jobs as well.
Producer/Editor/Photographer, Alex Knight Video
Yakima, WA — 2013-Current
Since 2013 I’ve operated a small business under my own name on the side. It’s not very lucrative, but this is where my passion projects are born. I love working with local musicians to try and help them reach their audience through video and photography, because deep down we’er all starving artists. I have filmed weddings (NO MORE, DON’T EVEN ASK), quinceaneras, taken senior photos, filmed campaign videos… but without a doubt, working with musicians is by far my favorite thing in the world.
Producer/Editor, Studio99 Multimedia
Yakima, WA — 2012-2016
Back in the early days of my video career, I shot a lot of industrial videos and created websites on the daily. It was formative, educational, and not exactly the path I wanted to go down for the rest of my career. I learned how to make videos to please the client and my boss and I learned what can happen if you don’t constantly push yourself to learn and improve. You’re only as good as your last project,
Skills USA Competitor, Tv / Video Productions
2012 Washington State Finalist, 2013 National Competitor
In 2012, I competed in a two person team for the SkillsUSA TV/Video Production competition, bringing home a 2nd place medal in Washington state. The following year, I went back and was able to win first place in Washington state and went on to compete at the national level with the best in the country in Kansas City, MO. While we didn’t take home first place, it was an amazing experience that firmly solidified my future in video production, I finally felt some validation.
past work
Documentary-Style Content
A few years ago, I was able to attend a full day class presented by a production company out of Portland, OR. The focus of the class was entirely on Storytelling and ever since I have always kept story in the foreground of any project. I believe telling a meaningful story is of the upmost importance and no matter who I’m working with, I always try to keep the story as a guiding light throughout all of production.
Commercial Production
During my time at Field Group, I was able to shoot a few commercial projects for local businesses or non-profits. I’m used to creating high production visuals on low budgets and limited crew. I can take people’s visions and conceptual ideas, focus it, and create something that meets specs and exceeds expectations.
live event coverage
I’ve spent the last few years shooting A LOT of local shows, events, and music festivals, so I’m accustom to working around a stage, not disrupting presentations, and capturing what it’s like to attend an event. I love being a “fly on the wall” and catching candid moments of attendees enjoying themselves and having fun.
Thanks for looking over my work and considering me for the position, I hope to hear from you soon.
